Malanne and Marmaduke

A bumper issue of Canal Boat for me this month, with my boat test of the Reading Marine built Malanne, and a story about John and Cathy on Marmaduke. This was actually written months ago, but was updated with the latest news just before publication.

Thank you for reviewing our boat. We thought the review was both comprehensive and fair.

We spent a lot of time thinking about the layout (and viewing other boats) and finally decided that the back cabin offered many advantages - not least the ability to offer guests/grown-up daughters some privacy and independent access to the bathroom at night (which is situated between the main cabin and back cabin).

The seat in the saloon is 7ft long and provides great lounging space as well as comfortable seating for four; something we would have missed had we gone for loose furniture.

Best wishes, Anne & Malcolm

Hello Anne and Malcolm

Thank you for letting us test Malanne. I enjoyed our brief trip into Reading on board the boat.

You may have noticed that Debdale is also a Reeves shell, so I always have a bit of a soft spot for them. Layout, as you say, is very personal and chosen for individual reasons. As long as it works for you, no-one can really criticise it!

Hope you enjoy your future cruising.
